That's ware I am right now. To be more precise I'm in Prince Edward Island on vacation visiting my wife's family. Don't get me wrong, I am/ we are having a great time! It is beautiful and there is a tone of fun stuff to do. Got a pass for the national park to hang out on Cavendish beach. Hung out with Anne of Green Gables at Avonlea (My 4 year old daughter Squeaky wouldn't leave Josie Pies side!)
But I miss my boat and the calm kind of travel/relax/...thing.. (you know).
Its only been 10 days. And I even prepared by before hand, getting in contact with other people on the island that sail/race twice a week. I was set to crew in Sumerside or Charlottetown but family commitments and all. No sailing.
We have been on the water twice in my father in laws very nice motor boat. (Even today for 4 hours. swimming, explore, lunch, swimming.) Fun. Right?
There it is I think. Motor boat. Sure my sailboat has a motor but it is just to get out into the wind and back into the dock when the sail is done. A sail boat exudes relaxation.
Here we were roaring to a destination to relax to just roar back to the dock at the end of that relaxation time.
How is it I grew up water skiing and now want the more laid back approach to water sports. Hang on, I do watch the fast sailboat races like Volvo and the Round Texel etc, I even try and make my sailboat go as fast as I can...
Well its only 1900km to home. We are hitting the road in the morning and I should be on the boat Sunday afternoon. I cant wait to gently or roughly slide through the water. Quietly for the most part too.
I'll try and post some pictures of Squeaky with Anne and crew when I can.

Friends of ours just got back from the same place, PEI. You probably saw them posing for pictures with a small stuffed bear. Older couple from the states taking in all the attractions, wife talking, husband smiling, doing u-turns at every intersection, mind in neutral. Great pics.

I know how you feel. My wife, myself, 1 grown son and friends spent July 4 week rafting the Grand canyon, 180 river miles, 6 nights in the boat and camping on the beach. When we got home, first available period of time I went out just to motor around in no wind, just to be aboard!!

We got home today at 5:30 am. We drove 19.5 hrs. I had a 3 hr nap at home and then off the the yacht club to see if the boat is still floating.
It is afloat! Not a drop of water inside either. Mud wasps have moved in though. Squeaky and I had lunch at the park and chased ground hogs. We will get out and sail after supper today.
It felt good to just be on the boat. Even though I left it in kind of a mess. It seems kind of calmer at out dock than at the dock in Stanley Bridge PEI. No big motor boats on our lake. My 26' is amongst the biggest on the lake.
I didn't think I would miss the boat and the lake as much, or at all, as I did. My wife even told me she was looking forward to sailing as apposed to the motor boating she grew up with.
Maybe we are maturing. No. Not me and my sock monkey Coleman.

Unless we plan a trip with the boat, we both miss the calm of even a few hours on 'Wind' that preserves our sanity for the coming week. We were out yesterday in steady 15 + breeze that just couldn't be beat(and hard to find on our lake) for fun and relaxation. Both the Admiral and cabin dog are sound asleep in the middle of the afternoon here and haven't moved for an hour :D.
We just got done booking a week vacation (and a weekend getaway later) without the boat, so I expect we'll both be itching to get back to the boat afterwards.

I just turn my outside light timers ahead or the first time since the equinox-makes me feel one day closer to my boat on the hard in Fla and the Bahamas to come in Jan.
