Ok, She's out of the water. I was told I have either a bent shaft or worn cutlass bearing so I am replacing both as well as installing a dripless shaft seal. I am also going to put a couple fresh coats of trinadad bottom paint on, replace the tru hull stopcocks, buff and wax the hull and replace the boot stripe. I only have 3 weekends with her out any thing else I should do in this time? 88' H30

To Do list...

Part of the fun of owning a boat is making lists of things "to do." Happiness is checking these things off as you do them.... The list of things "to do" on your boat is potentially endless and I have no idea what shape your boat is in. As a minimum, you probably want to make sure you install a new zinc on your shaft; make sure the raw water intake is clear; make sure your prop nut is tight and cotter pinned (don't assume your marina will do this);clean the raw water strainer; check all the jam nuts on your throttle/trans linkage; change the oil and filter (probably best done after you get in the water and can run the engine to heat up the oil); check or change the raw water impeller and the water pump and alternator belts. Good luck.

"To Do" list

Just ran across this Sailnet article on this subject and thought it may be of interest.
