On h260 how to stop cables inside mast clanging, as boat rocks? I am just starting to research but thought I would ask. I am guessing it's the mast toplight power cord, how thick can that be?? Is there a rope cable that runs in a plastic inch tube for some reason if one undoes the square panels on cabin roof by the mast?? Yes I will reread the manual. - Davenport, Houston TX

To answer my own question, it was NOT wiring which is sorta rigid and too light to clang, it was the rope that raises mainsail. Huh. Tighten rope and clanging goes away. And the only wires in mast seem to be the Mast Electrical Wire with 3 smaller wires that enters the mast about foot up from the side (so no wires or ropes enter mast at deck level). So ropes usually are cause of mast clang, now I know.

First picture shows the companionway cover. Retake the picture of the area so I can see how the main halyard runs down the deck up into the mast without the cover. Make sure the jaws of the main halyard rope clutch are still holding firm. If not holding fast, replace rope clutch. Suggest after use, the main halyard shackle is attached to the stanchion base Starboard side aft of the mast and pulled tight thru the rope clutch to keep the halyard from slapping the mast.

Do you have roller furling? If no, then secure the jib halyard on the port side after use like the main halyard to keep it from slapping the mast too!

The electrical line will either have a three or four prong deck plug. There should be a corresponding deck plug too depending on year. Photo please. Is there a plastic tube inside the mast on the backside?

The third picture was hazy. Retake it. Is it a hole in the mast and if so, how wide and where is it from the bottom of the mast. Is this an inspection port on the side of the mast?

Please advise asap and notify me when it is done!

The round hole into mast was the gin pole hole, showing no rope or wires are in first foot of mast.

P.S. Futzing I confirmed if connect into light socket 12 volts from a lil solar charger on table with wires going up, that can power all the inside lights -- if only have 1 battery block and wanna keep it on the table to power other stuff. I use a Jackery 240 and splice in 12 volts with bit of green wire into cabin light circuit, see pic.. Not perfect but LEDs allow this shortcut.

Your description of the gin pole is correct but what made it difficult to identify was the photo was fuzzy and also was too close when taking that picture.

I assumed the original photo of wiring was from the masthead light which would have been one black and two red wires. Upon further inspection, those wires are colored coded differently.

Now there two new pictures with a solar power unit with plans which I find confusing with concerns Therefore, I will not comment any further except to safely use solar to recharge the house batteries or battery
