So if we want to hang a small HD LCD TV on the wall and watch recorded/downloaded video while anchored, what do we need?

Ipad generation 2 works as it has HDMI capabilities, (I have gen 1).

I thought a PVR would work but apparently it needs to be connected to the cable provider to work even from memory.

A Blue ray with memory sticks apparently is an option, anyone doing that?

What are you using?

Thanks!

Why not get a TV/DVD combo and play movies? Is that what you are asking? Or are you trying to play/stream recorded media from a second device? Seems like a lot of trouble when a combo unit will do the trick. We just use my laptop and play movies. Sorry if I missed your point.

I know this is an old post but for anyone looking you can purchase mini pc's now that can act as media hubs.

I'm purchasing a TV for my boat soon and these are the 2 media pc's I am interested in

http://www.amazon.com/Zotac-Intel-B.../ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top/191-4161901-5581330

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00433SP6G/ref=ox_sc_sfl_title_1?ie=UTF8&m=ATVPDKIKX0DER

The Zotac has a DVD player built in which is probably going to sway me just incase I ever decide to rent one I dont have on the machine.

However it doesnt come with an operating system or a keyboard and mouse (the acer comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse + windows 7)

I'm planning on loading mine with some software called XBMC which is basically an operating system based around media like moves, music etc

On TV's I've researched numerous and whilst I was tempted to go with a 12 volt from jensen I have since found that some samsung tvs use less than 50 watts - some even as low as 20, that works out very well power consumption wise on my boat when using an inverter.

Failing that if you really dont need a 'PC' then there are plenty of harddrive cases with hdmi's coming out of them nowadays providing a tiny media system

Hope this has helped someone else a little
