I don't know what has gotten into me this season. I have actually
(1) worked on removing my water tank (no running water for over two years now)
(2) installed my new (2 year old) VHF with 1 year old wireless mike and
(3) installed my new (3 year old) pedestal guard/navpod.
I also ordered a lower batten to replace one I lost about two years ago. Fixed the stop on the companionway hatch so it will stop breaking the trim boards and restitched and replaced some missing slides on the main. I mounted a cleat on the aft stay to secure my fixed topping lift too. I drained my fuel tank and put fresh diesel in it. I even changed the oil and the drip tray/mat under the engine.
It seems like I always buy stuff for a project way before I actually have time to do it. I am trying to stop that and go to a just in time inventory system in life. I must have thousands of dollars tied up in stuff I bought but for one reason or another, haven't used yet. With a house, cars and a boat it is easy to come up with things to spend money on.
Still on the list:
Upgrade bilge pumps to a small working and big reserve pump setup. I have all the parts...aging nicely on board of course. Must be three or four years old by now.
Make a sunbrella companionway cover and some grab rail covers. I have had 15 yds. of fabric for at least 2 years. I finally broke down and bought a 1950's era sewing machine with a 1.5 amp motor. That should do the trick.
Install the new hatch I bought last year in the cabin top. I broke down and ordered the trim ring/screen this year so I am progressing this project at a faster than average rate.
I must admit that I am really looking forward to having the GPS chartplotter functional at the helm. It has been off the boat entirely for three years. When the company that I pay $80/year asked me why I was cancelling I sheepishly admitted that to them, which stifled their sales pitch for sure. The project will also bring the controls to the new (5 year old...was an Xmas present for our last boat) stereo I installed last year to the helm. There is even a jack for my ipod so I can finally create a playlist of those "sailing songs" to enjoy.
I am even contemplating "touching up" the tape on hull stripes where they are damaged.
...I must be ill....
