To all of you boat owners out there ( over 8,000!)with the venerable gasoline OMC saildrive inboard engine - don't foget to change the zincs IN the engine!! They don't cost much, but oh, boy! are they ever important! I recently completely overhauled & rebuilt mine because I was getting water in the lower cylinder when I went to launch this spring. After 4 months of re-work, we found that the water was seeping in around the mating plates between the upper and lower units - but only when it was in the water! The engine zinc had corroded, causing the metal to corrode as well at its' most vulnerable point - where the water comes in. Save yourselves a lot of grief - find and change those engine zincs!
