Well it's official. The IOC finally admits the $hit is not going to get better, and tells World Sailing (the new name for the ISAF) to shut up and tell the sailors 'its going to be worth infection for a chance at a metal'. So World Sailing does.

I recently saw a pic that showed the trash being taken out of the water. Supposedly the sailors would chance capsizing in that water to win a medal.

I was going to start a post earlier in the week, but didn't. It came to the public's attention that Baltimore (Maryland) has been dunping 330 MILLION gallons of sewage into a creek that dumps into the Inner Harbor over the past 5 years. The official word is that the sewage system was "designed" that way rather than to be overwhelmed and back up into peoples homes during rainstorms. This being the "design", it was not deemed as an "overflow" that had to be reported to the EPA. Makes me wonder, if I acnchored in the Harbor and pumped overboard, if they'd every notice the difference?

We boaters in general are the easy targets. Most of us probably don't have the $$$ or time to litigate a fine so they come after us. My six gallon holding tank is not 330 million gallons. Now, I'm not advocating doing away with holding tanks or pumping out in a marina or where others might be in the water or a lake with little to no flushing but, let's be reasonable. It's OK for me to pee over the side of the boat, go in a five gallon bucket and toss it but, if it goes in the head, it has to be pumped out on shore or when I am more than three miles out. Is there some kind of barrier at the three mile limit? Where do the fish and aquatic mammals go? Ever seen whale poop? Alright, I'm going off on a rant but, again, let's be reasonable. Is anyone out there listening? And by anyone I mean the yahoos that enact these arcane laws.

Just keep your mouth closed if you fall overboard. No seriously, I would just consider taking a preventive regime of antibiotics which may also help with the local foods and drinks. We have bodies of water here in the US that are just as bad. Some waters might look pristine but test them for e-coli. Beware of cuts and have fresh water and soap to wash off.
