Hi all,
Still working to get this boat in the water this year. I have a motor / but where is a good place to put the gas can? If I put it in starboard opening it is exposed to the cabin - but that is were the hole in the transom for the fuel line is - what have you done to store your fuel?

Bonus part two question: What is a good stop gap for blocking water? - it has been raining and I haven't had time to fix the 2 known leaks. I need to pick up the epoxy etc for that job. In the short term what can I do?

You would never guess from looking that this would leak ;)

Thanks all!

My gas can sits on the cockpit floor against the transom, held in place with a bungee stretched between eyebolts. I keep a small piece of Sunbrella wrapped around the tank so it's not as ugly. Yes, it's kind of in the way.
Previous owner kept tank in the cockpit locker, but the crackers and breakfast cereal (stowed in the cabin) always tasted like gasoline.

Has anyone made a mount off the transom for a gas tank? Is it feasible or even legal? I would appreciate any pictures you all have. Thanks.

You could fabricate a removable container with vent to the outside that can sit inside a locker. This should reduce the smell infusion to the living space.

My tank sits at the transom on the cockpit sole. I made a cover for it that has speakers as well. Just some varnished plywood and angle. Catches on two eye straps on the transom. I does take some room but I live with it. However if I am soloing I take it out as the speakers interfere with the tiller pilot.

Ok - thanks for the picture. Do you have any issues with the cockpit draining?

I store my gas can in the locker and run with it in cockpit against transom. Po had a hole cut in locker side to run hose and he kept can in locker while running. I don't have a problem with gas smell but I see how that could be an issue.

Leaks. Water is really good at finding any gap at all. And its always destructive. I hate leaks.
