Also Restoring This Boat

I'm also restoring a 74 Hunter 25. Finished most of the work last year. Working on the interior this winter and spring. I wouldn't woory about finding original equipment. E.g., original winches were very poor quality. I replaced jib sheet winches with Lewmar #8s. I have old winches in a box (one works the other is broken and in pieces) if you want them. i had to replace a lot of balsa core in the deck. I hope you can avoid that, it a real pain. With respect to deck nonskid, I ground off all the original and repainted with the Interlux nonskid paint additive and was very pleased with the results. I can be reached at sailer7402aol.com if you want to reach me directly. Best of luck!

About 25's

I saw a Hunter a few weeks ago that I think may have been a 25. I have been trying to identify the model since then with little luck. It had a tall cabin that almost looked as though it would be hard to see over when sitting in the cockpit. It however looked very "seaworthy" (for lack of a better term). It appear to be well designed. It had a narrow stern with a lazarette and a tiller that went thought he cockpit floor (I don't know the proper term for this). On the cabin it had 4 equally sized hatches on either side. The mast step made it look as if it might be made to trailor. The bow had recessed running lights in the hull. The outboard motor was mounted in the middle of the transom. It also had a nice toe rail, metal with holes all around. If this sounds like your boat please let me know, and good luck with the restoration project.

If you need parts...

...try this link: http://www.sailingworld.com/ssbk/gear/index.html They have a listing of every manufacturer or almost everything that can possibly be on a boat. Takes some digging for rare requests, but is very valuable source for "who has this?"

Older restoration

I am redoing a donated boat for a sailing program that I run. How did the rebuild go? I have the insides ripped out at this time and have to repair the hull and a bad blister repair job. I am also look for all the information I can get. Parts suppliers, and such. Do you have any scans of your boat? I have been taking pictures of my project and will be posting them at my website. http://charlestonsail.freeservers.net. Also I am looking for a trailer or cradle. trying to get it to Charleston from Augusta for a good price. Many Thanks.

Older Restoration Help

You guys that have redone the interior or planning on redoing the interior, did you use teak plybord or go to another type plyboard. I am redoing the interior and was wondering the best route. Of course all of the original teak pieces will be used. Just ply plyboard looks rally bad and in need of replacement.

Paint Plywood

I have painted plywood bulkheads, etc and in process of cleaning and refinishing real teak parts (all of which have been removed). Original floor stringers were totally rotten and have been refabricated and glassed in. I haven't made a final decision on flooring material. I'll probably go the cheap route and use painted plywood with a little nonskid additive. I doubt the old boat can justify the cost of teak and holly plywood that you often see. I'd rather spend my money on new sails.
