Hello, I posted something on the Hunter pages about a boat I am looking at. I haven't had much in terms of response. Based on a Hunter Legend 45, it transpires it was initially raced as Marico (sometimes assigned Mariko) by Courtney Hazelton and then Retrac by ??? It was then modified by Nigel Rowe to take part in the (95/96) BOC challenge. Mr Rowe has furnished me with some information about it which mostly concern his modifications from the time he purchased it. I am in the dark regarding its initial construction but it appears to have a cored construction above and below the waterline, using balsa cores and divinycell cored decks. The deck moulding do have some similarities with the Legend but it has a pretty tiny cockpit with 9 self tailing winches crammed in. It was intended to be a water ballasted single hander from the beginning and I would really like to know if anyone knows anything about her regarding her build (is her construction different from the standard Legend 45) or is there something different going on. I am not sure to what extent Mr Luhrs would have redesigned her for purposes of racing. Does anyone know anything about her period as Retrac, as she would still have been a pretty current racer at that time? Many thanks in advance

I wish I had more info on another special built Hunter that I've seen but other than seeing it cut up for scrap and being surprised that it had a lead keel I do not. It was an all black Hunter in Norfolk va old salt who's name eludes me said Hunter build several special boats for racing but this one was done he wanted $6000 for the keel said that was scrap value but it almost matched my cast iron wing keel exact so the boat must have been 33 to 35 ft other than that I know no more
