The sun has really burned up the LCDs on our Kenyon KS300D speedometer and DS300 depthsounder. I can't find them on the internet anywhere, so I'm going to assume Kenyon Marine is out of the marine electronics business and just into marine stove and refrigeration. What I'd like to do is just replace the LCDs, and I'm looking for some advise. Thanks.

Kenyon Electronics

You are correct that Kenyon is no longer in the electronics business. I had their instruments on my boat when I bought it and they didn't work at all. I replaced them with Navman (set w/analog wind direction and speed), but I had to make some modifications to do so. I built a housing for them and my GPS plotter (Standard Horizon CP-160) as well as a place to plug in and power the new wheel pilot (Simrad WP-30). Making the change to new instruments was a great mod for my boat, but you will have to weigh the expense for yourself. Good luck Ellis

Kenyon Electronics question

You're right about the cost; we are trying to be smart about any additions to this boat. We believe the transducers for both (if I am using the term correctly) are still functional. Could another "guage" just be wired to those through-hull transducers or are those made to be specific to the guages themselves. Thanks.

Transducers

The transducer for the depth may work with other brands of instruments, but the speedo is most likely brand specific. The Navman set can be had for less than $1k. also includes a repeater that could be used at the nav station or along side the other three. I don't want to sound like an ad for them, but I really like their instruments, especially for the cost. HTH, Good Luck, Ellis
