Greetings! I have a 1987 H23. This year I am replacing my main halyard. I also want to install a topping lift. Can I run the old halyard for the topping lift? Sure would save a couple o' dollars! TIA, Richard H23 "Invictus"

yes but...........

the line size would be overkill. Get a boomkicker!

Stepping the mast?

Richard, Are you going to have to step the mast to rig the topping lift or will you climb it? I'm considering the same thing for my H23. The second question: How do I get the topping lift through the boom?

topping lift

First run a snake thru the boom with the line attached. As for the old halyard line, it is too big but could work. The only question I have is if the line is rottenand ready to go if it is the orginal with the boat. Do not play with this because an old line used to hold up a boom could break and then when you get clobbered in the head by the boom, then you will have been boomed.

How big?

OK... Can the idea of using the old halyard. What diameter line should I use for the topping lift on an H23? How long? Thanks for the advice.
