Old Depth Sounder to Garmin 440 Connection

I have a Garmin 440 GPS on GOOD TRADE and the original OLD depth sounder. (I will update this with brand and better picture, but please, see

Is there a way to hook the old system or transducer into the Garmin?

I asked that same question last month as I was replacing my Autohelm (Raymarine) ST50 display. The transducer still worked, just the display was bad. I wanted to see if I could hook up a Garmin 431s to the transducer, and have it provide depth information. Through the research I did, the answer was no, it was a different type of signal. That doesn't mean it isn't possible, it's just that the resources I checked said that it was not. To get a more definative answer, you might try contacting Airmar, they make most of the transducers for different manufacturers, and could tell you for sure whether the model of depth sounder you have could communicate with the Garmin.

It is a SIGNET depth sounder. The unit WORKS WELL, has an offset for the keel, and is accurate. 10 feet is actually ten feet below the keel. Three means we are motivated to tack. One means I am tacking almost regardless of the crew's positions (except for obvious boom in head sort of stuff).
