I know my furler is old and I have spoken to the company on several occasions. My question is there any way to help keep the line from jumping out of the "pulley with teeth drum" that is used with the continues line? I keep tension with one handon the line as I pull with my other hand but it still jumps out requiring a trip forward to unjam which is not much fun in strong winds.

Check the drum to deck angle?

John If you haven't already, check to make sure that the angle of the continuous line is to specifications of CDI (the manual is on their web site, I don't remember the actual number of degrees that they recommend). Our old CDI furler would get stuck a lot too, and we did two things: we replaced the line with a bit smaller diameter line, and we installed a new stand-up block to feed the line from the pulley backwards (e.g. the first block that the line touches as it heads back to the stern). Between those two fixes, no more troubles. Good luck Ron and Tom

Thanks Tom and Ron

I just received an estimate to replace my CDI with a new Harken on my Catalina 30TR and it comes to $3565 installed (same sail). I think I will try to fix my old CDI first. The company said some people have even rigged bungy cords to help, but I don't see how.
