Old C-Map CF 85 for Nantucket Sound

I've been looking for a C-Map cartrige for nantucket sound and since they are not made any more I figured I would ask around. I have a raytheon raystar 198 but can't seem to find any charts for it. Anyone have any lying around or know of a good source. I would like to find a place that stocks used ones. C-Map sells them for $100.00 but they haven't been updated since 2000 so they aren't going to be that accurate considering how much the shoals move around out there. Thanks.

Old C-MAPS

Hi Steve -I just sold my Raystar 198 along with a significant investment in NW charts (bought n 1995!) at a local swap meet. You can still find the charts on eBay on occasion, but as you mentioned, they'll be outdated. I would strongly consider upgrading your GPS/plotter if for nothing else than to get accurate data (not to mention much faster satellit acquisition and screen resolution).Best,Trevor

I have a complete set....

...of chips(CF-85) for the northeast. I wish there was a way for me to copy them. By the way, why does the dating on these chips matter? the NOAA information hasn't been updated in most areas for over 70 years.

You Check with C-Map?

It may be an obvious question but they are rather helpful. I bought that same chip last year for my '04 Standard Horizon.

Updated charting

Hi Alan -One reason to check for chart updates is that although rocks don't move very fast, the government does change the rules every so often. The "highway" moved in Puget Sound in 2001 (not positive on the date) - the shipping lanes were redefined. It's important to know when you are clear of shipping lanes in high traffic areas.Just something to consider,Trevor

I also realize that the CG moves navigation bouys every once in a while or renames them, but most of the other info is the same for years(many years)
