Old Boat loans

I did a quick search and did not find any postings on finding a lender that will finance old boats.
I am looking at a boat in particular that is a 1980. USBoats specifically say they fiance as far back as 1986, but I need someone that will go back further. Any one have any good ideas?

The boat I am considering is a Hughes North Star 40 1980. Its old but I think with the right work she will take me where I want to go.

I financed my 1977 Tartan through USAA. Fairly easy over the phone process if you are a member.

I asked at Wells Fargo last January and they said they would finance my 1989 but their rates were way higher than Boeing Employee's Credit Union which limits to 25 years or newer. I ended up just biting the bullet and paying for it.

Consider a 2nd mortgage on a home or real estate property.

charge it on visa or mc and then convert it to a conventional loan at a later date

Lenders will want to know the expert valuation, so you will need a survey and the help of a broker. Figure on financing 80% at most of that expert valuation. In addition to the downpayment you will need personal reserves to update/repair the boat.

Check with a local production sailboat dealer in your area ... They are likely to know several boat loan brokers they can refer you to or check with Just Boat Loans
