This might sound futile, but... I am trying to find if the old '60s-'70s-style hand pump for the head sink is still available. This thing was standard equipment on about 80 percent of the affordable production boats back then (sold through Manhattan Marine as I recall). It is a short chrome-plated body standing out of the counter on a 45-degree angle with a black, bakelite, round-cornered square knob facing you; the knob is the push-pull pump handle. The body itself is the faucet; the water comes out of a nozzle/outlet at the bottom of the end. It was reliable and inexpensive in the days before Whale foot pumps. Surely if you have one you know what I'm talking about. I simply cannot remember if it's PAR? --Tempo? --Wilcox? --none of the names I've tried turn up this pump on a Yahoo search. I'd like two of these for my 1974 Hunter 25. Can anyone help with a brand name, model number, reliable source, good used parts... anything? Thanks. JC 2 JComet@aol.com

Will take care of mine, J.C.!

I am very happy with the two units installed on our '77 h27. The one in the head sink is original equipment. But someone added one at the kitchen sink to pump the sump of the icebox back up to the sink to keep it out of the bilge in a controllable way! (The water supply to the kitchen sink is via a great foot pump. I'm looking for a new tread for it now.) If I can get aboard Lady Lillie through the snow we have, I'll se if there is any info on the newer pump - it's the same one J.C. II described with the pump body forming the faucet, and a push-pull action. David Lady Lillie

Found it!!

OK, out to the Lady Lillie, through 18 inches of drifted snow, up the ladder, 2 feet drifted around the companionway, into the cabin, no writing on pump --- wait, really tiny writing on the base can't read it, make a rubbing with one time copy receipt, Peters & Russell?? back home, Google, Google again, Peters & Russell is now ITT Jabsco, ITT Japsco _and VOILA!_ "Topsider Hand Pump" Part Number 37220-1010 The link below will get you somewhere close if you want to see the picture. That looks like it...

... except it's not chrome. I wonder if the chrome one is still around. It'd look more 'period'. As I recall these pumps are VERY easy-working-- there is something about that angle that makes hand pumping work just about perfectly. Our 'mistress of the galley' is 13 and shorter than average and has never worked a manual water system before... so the easier the better, you know. Thanks for the help! BTW if a chrome one turns up please let me know... I'll be ordering for this right after the holidays. JC

Mine is chrome

But I guess Jabsco has lowered the cost of their product. By the way, the original in the head sink is plastic - so much for the period look. David Lady Lillie
