So it is not really a pod, more like a stand, like I said it is a little crude for now, I will have plenty of time to beautify it later. Been working goo for a week now.

After years of cruising, I still don't understand why all the instrumentation is back there. We rarely are behind the wheel. We use the wireless remote backup to do the driving and the sailing instruments are mounted above the companionway. They are visible by everybody and if you need to be behind the wheel they are visible from there. My lap top is my chart plotter. It has a large flat screen plugged to it that is visible from the wheel. All else is electronics ready to die.

I hope to have that set up someday

But we are on a tight budget and someday may upgrade the boat but no plans so far.
No auto pilot, the boat had an old one that was worn out and undersized so I took it off. Hand steering all the way to florida. Gotta "run what ya brung" to get out there without spending a fortune to get started.
Looking forward to the salvage and surplus yards we will fiind on the east coast.
Heading for Lake Erie today, maybe Cedar Point or Putin Bay not sure yet.

Andy, your lake is over 100' deep right up to shore. Every view from the boat is closer than one mile. Why do you need instruments?
