Hi all,
A while ago I mentioned working on my boat with a Dremmel 400 XPR which failed after short use. I Emailed Dremmel and sent them the tool for evaluation. We received a box saying that it was fixed, but the tool inside was a new Dremmel 4000 and a complimentary buffing wheel. That's like returning a Toyota and getting a Lexus. Thank you Dremmel.

I guess that I have expected too much from a Dremmel tool as I have distroyed three of them. But I have a DeWalt rotary tool, that could be a Dremmel on steroids, that takes all the work I put to it in stride and keeps going. Now it is not as nimble as the Dremmel tool but it gets the jobs done.

Dremmel changed battery styles on my cordless rotary. They gave me a very good credit to upgrade...but the new batteries don't hold a charge worth a damn. It was a downgrade, not an upgrade.

My Dremel is one of the most indespensible tools on my boat. I had mine for 25 years of constant use before it crashed. Dremel could not fix the old one but sold me a new style reconditioned variable speed for under $30. Great product and customer service. Ron

Got mine a few years ago and the variable speed control took a dump about a year later. Then it quit all together. I replaced it with a Black & Decker that has been a workhorse every since at half the price. The B&D is slightly larger but it works great. Three folks I know have had issues with Dremmel. I wont buy another.
