If you replace your oil pressure switch with this type of switch with these connecters, may provide Reliability .

Funny you post this at this particular time. I ended up having an issue with the connector for the red/white and the blue wires coming off while underway the other day. A 310 owner friend and the previous owner of my boat knew exactly what i was talking about when i explained the symptom and I found that not only did the wire fall off, the entire connector did as well. I'm waiting for the switch from Torresen and will rig it up the way you describe. Thanks.

Hopefully the engine panel not getting any power at all now is caused by this!

I would not count on that.
If your talking about DC, check you bat connections/main fuses, if no AC remember the main breaker in the starboard aft cockpit locker.

I had the tab break off my switch also. Since the alarm had been disabled, I was unaware. However, it eventually caused the motor to stop!! Reason? At 1/2 tank of fuel, gravity was no longer supplying fuel to the engine since the fuel pump was not running. Emergency jumper of the pressure wires got the motor up and running again. Will use Paul's wiring suggestion to prevent a similar mishap.

Yep, not hearing the alarm when the key is turned on is a clue that you have a problem. It should be on solid (low enging oil pressure) when engine cold, and beeping when engine is hot (over temp). An engine will actually get hotter when first turned off after it has been running for a wile, so if you turn the key switch back on again the alarm will beep untill it starts a circulates water again.

PaulJ - Help me get a clue

What exactly are you showing in the pictures? I did have a problem with mine the other day and after jiggling the wires it worked. When I had a chance to stop I took the connectors off, wiped them down and reattached. No problems after.

Is there something I am missing?

Looks like a new switch with screw on terminals. Shovel connectors I believe are on the original, these tend to and loosen and break off.

I got the new ones. Did not realize I was spoiled.

Witzend answered your question............

The down side is the new sensor did not fit into the ratchet deep socket, so you had to do the final tighting with a wrench.

If you would have invited me, I would have gone to the boat show with you two rogues.

There is another show in January

up in Baltimore. I met DrSail there a few years ago. Not too many sailboats in there, but what else do I have to do in January. Besides for the $10.00 admission I get a free subscription to Cruising World and I can hit the G&M Restaurant on the way home for the best Crab Cakes in Maryland and/or the Pasta Primavera (shrimp, mussels, scallops and clams in a red sauce).
