Oil Requirements

I own an 84 31 foot Hnter with a 2gm Yanmar diesel. Since I lost my owners manual, I cannot remember how much oil to put in the engine.Help would be appreciated.Thank you,Richard

Oil Capacity

2GM20F: 3/4 quart in engine, rest of quart in transmission.

I think it is more like 2 quarts in the engine and about 1/2 quart in tranny!Make sure you get all the old oil out if you are going to put 2 back in.

My manual is 3 hours away, but I seem to remember that the oil capacity is given in liters, Yanmar being a Japanese brand and all. But I'm not going to quote an amount, because I can't remember.

2.0 Liters

Service manual for the 2GM engine shows lubricating oil capacity as 2.0 Liters, total and 1.3 effective. (rake angle 0f 8 deg)

@ litre is correct

Just changed the oil in my Yanmar 2GM20F. Took 2 litres, as per the manual including the filter change. If you don't change the filter, quantity will be slightly less. Tranny takes 1/3 litre of the same oil type.
