Oil Pressure lite

After motoring(30 to 60 minutes) out the ICW to sail area with no problems, we raise the sails, kill the engine, and have a great time. After 2 to 3 hours of great sailing, we start to head back. At this point when I start the engine (Yanmar YSM12), the oil pressure light does not go out. If the light is still on after 15-20 seconds, I shut it down and worry. After a minute or 2, I try again. The oil pressure light usually goes out after the second or third attempt. I can't figure this one out. Any suggestions or thoughts on the matter

oil press lite on YSx Yanmar

Butch--It could be: 1)loose wiring/bad connection 2)faulty oil press. switch 3)low oil pressure -- I had this same trouble with the YSB12. My oil pump was marginal and it would not always prime on start up. First I switched to heavier oil -- worked for a while. Then I replaced the oil pump. This is relatively easy on that engine -- removable from the front. Before messing with the engine check it out with a mechanical gage in place of the oil press. switch.
