All- I have a 2006 Hunter 38 with an electric oil exchanger. I'm trying to track down an oil leak from the changer that is dripping into my bilge, has anyone out there experienced an oil leak in this area before on their Hunter?

Is this something that you or the dealer installed? I do not know that I have heard of these on small diesel engines before.

My friend with a Nordic Tug has one, but he pump 29 quarts of oil with each change.

My 2009 exchanger had a leak also but it was orange in color. Examination showed it was a defective leaking engine hose under the floor above the bilge appearing to be the exchanger.

Yes i have exactly this issue. Whenever I change oil in the genset and engine I get a drip from the bottom of the vertical pump, which is installed just forward of the engine in the engine compartment. It drips for a couple of days and then stops. It does not drip while I'm actually pumping oil. I have spoken with the manufacturer Advanced Marine Technologies, Inc. and they suggested replacing the gasket on the pump impeller casing, where the oil seems to be dripping. It's not a big deal and I just place a small piece of oil absorbent material beneath the pump until it stops dripping.

Rick, thanks for the update, I thought this was just a small drip as well during the season, but since I winterized and changed the oil, I lost about a quart so far. Looks like it might have been the connection threaded into the Oil changer. I added some plumbers putty and tighten the connection and give it a few days to see how I make out.
