I opened up the engine compartment of my Yanmar 2GM20F to check the oil level and found at least a quart of oil in the drip pan under the engine. I jad to add one quart to bring the level up to the minimum on the dip stick. I have not spent too much time in locating the source of the oil as I need to clean the area first. There is some evidence of oil running from the front face of the engine behind the belts. Any pointers before I begin? It's ninety degrees and humid and I'm not goin to be that smart below deck.

Maybe a fuel pump leak?

Are you sure it's oil? I had a fuel pump leak on my h30 that I thought was oil. The fuel pump just needed to be tightened.

Thanks for fuel leak tip.

Thanks, I will check the fuel pump too as I did do some work on it recently.

Understand heat and humidity...

but you have to get in there anyway. Make the area spotless, get your flashlight, start the Yanmar, and watch. Could be fuel pump gasket, oil filter, hopefully not a seal(engine or tranny). No fun this time of year below decks.
