Found a little oil in the bildge. Boat is 1996 C320 w/Yanmar. Is this normal?

No

Not unless you spilled it. The engine or transmission should not be leaking oil into the bilge. Could be the sign of just some needed minor gasket maintenance or something more serious. Try cleaning it all up (bilge, engine, transmission surfaces) and then putting oil absorbsion sheets under the engine & transmission to see if you can pinpoint where its coming from. Then go talk to a good engine mechanic at the boat yard. --Ron

First place to check

One of the first places to look for an oil leak is the oil filter. Simply run your finger on the bottem of the seal between the filter and engine, it should be dry. The filter should be only hand tight, but...it needs to be as tight as you can get it by hand. This may mean putting a paper towel around it to improve your grip.

oil in bilge

I just found some in mine as well. It was the bolts to the oil pan. They were loose.

Oil In Bilge

I also found oil in my bilge. Found where it was coming from this morning- the dipstick tube had corroded and holes had formed in the bend as it went into the oilpan. Not only was it a messy clean up but a new one cost me $70. At least I found it while at the dock.
