On my 1982 Atomic 4 30hp gas engine I have searched and searched but CANNOT find the oil dip stick. Can anyone describe where the thing is ???

Hi Javelin,
It's beside the water pump on the starboard aft part of the engine. If you look in the access door near the nav station and can see the alternator, just go aft of that. The loop of the stick should be visable behind the oil fill cap. I have to lean the stick away from me in order to get it in and out of the small opening. Hope this helps.

I have an '81 Catalina with a 30HP Atomic that runs great!
My previous owner had cut the corner of the top access panel to reach the dip stick. If you do the same, be sure to cut it on a 45 deg so the piece does't fall in the engine compartment. Also Moyer Marine sells an extension that mounts on the Atomic 4 if you want access to the front of the engine.
Be sure to change the oil every 50 hours of operation or at least once a season. I change mine in mid summer and at decommisioning before fogging the engine.
