Oil crankcase drain bolt

I would like to remove the existing oil drain bolt and replace it with the drain kit (hose) for my Universal M25 on my 83 Cat 30. Can this be done without lifting the engine? Has anyone succeeded in doing this? If I knew the exact size of the drain bolt head I think I can make something to remove it. It is a very tight spot and it's probably never been removed before.

Hi John:On my 1996 Universal M25XP, I believe both the Transmission plug and the oil drain plug are 17mm. Yes, you can remove it with a 17mm. box end wrench,Good LuckDaveS/V Westwind

One of my ideas was to take a box end wrench and bend it so it will fit in there. I have a 17 mm box and will try it. Thanks Dave.
