oil cooler help-yanmar

engine is a yanmar 3Jh4e, with an oil cooler problem. Yan service manual para 8.3 ´lube oil filter´ diagram shows the oil filter threading onto a stud. There is a large nut holding the cylindrical oil cooler body onto the stud. 2 pipe nipples for hoses carrying antifreeze come out of the oil cooler at 9 o´clock - inlet -- and 3 o clock -- outlet . Looks to me like after the oil filter is removed, the "lube oil cooler retaining nut " just threads left counterclockwise off the stud , then the whole oil cooler assembly can pull off .
1) is that correct ? Or is there more disassembly??
2) what is the nut p/n 129417-33110 diameter- the biggest 30 mm socket i have--(which yanmar recommends in its ´tools list´ )does not fit onto this nut ....
3) is there any truth to the internet ´advice´ that you can just bypass this cooler on these yanmar engines -- by bypassing the cooler , joining the inlet antifreeze hose p/n 129508-49030 with a connector piece of same diameter to the outlet hose, p/n 129508-49040. And that this bypass of the cooler does not adversely affect engine oil temperatures?

note that the piping diagram for the oil cooler shows 2 rubber hoses both ´9xt3.5 ´ but it sure looks to me like the oil cooler outlet hose is a substantial few mm s larger at the coolant - pump end than the inlet hose...

the oil cooler /hoses are special order that will probably not come til halloween,, in the meantime the engine is down til i get this fixed......

At a guess I would say the oil cooler is there mainly for the good of the oil - and hence the engine.
If the oil is too hot when it is forced into the engine and through the bearings it will be thinner and of lower lubricity. Apart from increasing engine wear it will probably shorten the life of the oil as well.
Of course the engine will still run perfectly well, and you would probably never notice any difference in performance - but the life expectancy of the engine could be materially shortened.
When hot, engine oil seems perilously thin to me (SAE 5 or less).
Why second guess Yanmar? Trust them to know whether this expensive part really is needed.

Oil coolers are handy items when the engine is buttoned up in an enclosure like on a boat. You don't need them so much in cars as the oil pan is exposed to a moving air flow.
I'm not familure with your specific modle but an oil cooler is an oil cooler. If i read your post correctly your oil cooler sits between the oil filter and the oil filter bracket. it uses the filter bracket oil supply lines and then sends the oil to the filter/bypass then sends the oil back to the bracket and the engine. Is this correct?
if that is the case then there are automotove after market oil coolers that MAY be able to be fitted. Alternatively you can buy a remote oil filter bracket (makes changeing the filter much easier in some cases) with an intigrated oil cooler and just re plumb it with home depot plumbing hardware. FWIW
