Boy this sounds silly but I removed my dirty oil from my yanmar diesel on my Hunter Legend 37 and now realize that the oil filler cap is on top of the engine with only one inch clearance. Any suggestions on how I can pour my new oil into my engine as its so tight in there with no workable space to pour oil.

LONG FUNNEL

Hi, I went to the auto parts store and bought the longest flexible funnel they had (usually used for filling automatic xmissision fluid), then I added a piece of hose to the end to extend even more. Works fine, you can stick the hose into the oil intake, then hold the funnel level and pour. LAS

I DONT HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM OWMING A 450,HOWEVER I DO LIVE ABOARD AND HAVE OIL HEAT FROM MY FUEL SUPPLY AND WHEN THE WATER FREEZERS I HAVE TO DUMP FUEL INTO MY TANK. AT AGE 70 AND IN A SPOT WHER I CAN GO INTO THE WATER I HAVE FOUND THAT A FUEL TRANSFER PUMP WAS A GOOD INVESTMENT TO STAND THE CANS AND TRANSFER THEM INTO THE TANK. I NATURALLY WILL USE THIS METHODE TO CHANGE THE OIL IN MY ENGINE AND GENERATOR. IT IS A NEW BOAT AND I HAVENT TRIED IT YET,BUT SEE NO REASON WHY IT WILL NOT WORK.

Lube Oil Pump

Barrie, I do not know how you got the old oil out of the sump but most use a hand or an electric pump. So just use the same pump to decant new oil from the can and into the engine.
