Oil Change

I changed the oil and filter on "Overture" about a month age. I was
able to remove right at a gallon which is much than it should have. I
refilled with 3 gts. The last time I was at the boat the oil was over
the top mark on the dipstick. The oil appears to be fine. Is there
some way diesel can find its wasy into the oil?

Hi Paul

I had the same with Vega "Debonair" and the cause was a worn seal
between the diesel (High Pressure) pump and the engine which was seeping
diesel into the sump. Changed the seal and all was well.

Steve,
Thanks, I thought as much. I have been trying to find information
(diagram, manual, anything) on the VA pump for some time, but to no
avial. Is this a remove and replace job for the DIY'er?

Hi paul

Not too bad a job. I took the pump off using the MD6A Workshop Manual
and tehn took the pump to my diesel guy who stripped renovated and
calibrated the pump for under £100, put it back and worked perfectly.
The Workshop manual is available from the web or if a problem give me a
shout.
