Oil change for Vega with a MD6B

I have a Vega with a MD6B engine. I have had her for about 8 months and think it’s about time for me to do an oil change before I actually start using her for some weekend trips.

I have done an internet search, but can’t find anything specific on how to do an oil change on this engine.

Could any other owners give me some guidance? How often should I be doing it? Which oil to use? Which filter? How much oil to put back in? Where the drain plug is, etc.

Cheers,

Landon

If i recall, you suck the old oil out of the dipstick hole."Thomas Kummer archikum@... [AlbinVega]" <AlbinVega@yahoogroups.com> wrote:please check in the Vega Handbook below.Cheers

Yes I use a 12v pump to do this.

I'm still a bit vague as to the type of oil to use - I generally use "old fashioned" non synthetic oil.

I think a 30W Rotella Diesel would work? Someone kindly sent me a German service manual. Had a friend translate the key points.I’m going to get a pump for use on the dipstick port. How long should I run the engine to prewarm the oil? About 5 min?Sent from my iPhone

Run engine till block is warm (more than 30 C)?
Easier in Spring or Autumn.
