Oil Alarm

I recently was laid up for 3 months while changing my roller furler and forestay. After getting everything fixed (CDI FF7.0 is a great product) I went for a shakedown cruise. Of course my Universal 25 decided to rule in and boom my oil filter backs and i have oil everywhere. (lesson #1 change ur oil after sitting so long) so I flush the engine, change filters, put STP and marvels in and im sure now that my oil is flowing again. However the alarm light and buzzer keeps ringing? is it possible its the sensor itself? it installs on the back right of the block. has anyone seen this before? Im going to order and replace but should i be worried about something else?

You should not run that engine until you can verify that you really have oil pressure.On your original note - I honestly don't understand what happened to your engine - I've never heard teh (slang?) expression "my Universal 25 decided to rule in and boom my oil filter backs." What on earth are you talking about???

I think you should take out STP and Marvel

That STP may not be such a good thing for a marine engine. It is really a very thick oil which may not flow well through a marine engine which will not get as hot as say a car engine as the cooling water is always very cool and not just radiator cooled coolent. Your oil pump may be having difficulty sucking it up and its viscosity may be doing havoc with your sensors.As to the Mavel Mystery oil, I again am not convienced that it is required.I would remove the oil concoction you have in there and just replace it with a good multiweight oil. Don't forget the filter at the same time as it too is filled with that concoction.Then see how your engine is running.However, if the original problem stemmed from the oil filter and as the oil pressure sensor reads oil pressure right before it enters the filter, then it is possible that a spring in the oil pressure sensor has moved to a position from the lack of pressure caused by the bad filter and has not moved back to a more noraml position thereby setting off alarms.Nevertheless, this is a theory, which facts may prove otherwise.
