Oh look! Another 260 rudder question!

I wouldnt trust it. Seems theres more to this rudder dilema then expected. I think "personal opinion of course" Hunter marine has a design defect with that rudder.

Please email me tghe photos as I would like to really look and then advise. I would also appreciate a photo of the entire rudder so I can see the entire picture. One other photo of where the cascade or centerboard line goes thru is also needed as I detected something there.
Hunter did not manufacturer the rudder contrary to populare belief. In fact they have in the past referred others over to me for advice due to my involvement with the boat.

I got one and hopefully any others would help as I plan to pow wow with the mfg. and others on this one. My one question, does the head of the rudder feel solid or is there any give? I will post the results privately and on the forum

Just surface crack and the rudder is fine structurally. Big thanks to Dave Condon aka: Crazy_Dave_Condon on HunterOwners Forums. He spearheaded the process and found the information I needed. Thanks Dave, you are a credit to the forums and Hunter Marine.

Many thanks to you sir!. When Brad sent the photos to me with others, I noticed cracking of the exterior coating with a white suface underneath. I instructed Brad to chip away at the coating to see if was gel coat. In additon, I asked him to basically see if the top of the rudder head moved when applying pressure and I was informed it was solid.
Another manufacturer makes the rudders for Hunter. Hunter for added protection adds white barrier coats. What was cracking and coming off was the white barrier coat with no noticable cracks in the underlying gel coat. I have seen this in the past and barrier coat although good is not needed at the head of the rudder and in the rudder cage, what you see is barrier coat coming off.
