Well, I finally got the aft Head bulkhead out after removing the rest of the Port deck frames and pulling the House frame up.

Of course, there was some rot as expected. The rib is gone down to just above the keel strap.

I stuck a screwdriver in it easily..

The bulkhead tie is rotten and broken as well.

The rest of the ribs and planking look pretty good. There are a couple of cracked ribs but the sisters that are in place are still fine. No telling how many years ago this was done. I haven't decided to pull and replace those cracked ribs yet.

I am thinking of replacing all of the chainplates.

This glove is a reminder of not wearing gloves when running machinary. I was jointing when it grabbed the glove. I yanked the hand away when I felt the tug and missed getting a nasty boo boo.

I have to pull this Chainplate Partner to get the clamp out.

Lot's of work yet to do on this old girl... Anybody wanna run up to Bellingham and get dirty?

Charlie, I wish I was about 3 thousand miles closer. I would love to be involved with that.

Wow again!!

I love when you post the new pictures!!! I am wondering if YOU are now wondering if you were lucky to make it home from getting the boat and going through that storm??? And I am seeing why you got such a great price too :)
If you are making patterns of each piece you replace you could just about build a twin boat as you go!!

Keep the updates comming, Dean

Dean, she's an amazingly strong boat. I never had any issues with heavy weather in the five 50+ days I sailed her in. Even when we laid her completely over when the chute self deployed in a 40 knot puff and she sailed home with kelp in the spreaders. I think the C-Flex had a lot to do with it by making her a very stiff and strong boat. While the chainplates are a bit ugly, they're still strong and none of the chainplate ribs are rotted. I can just imagine how strong she'll be after I'm done.

I'm not making patterns, I'm making the new parts from the old ones, using them as the patterns.

Yes love the pictures. We are your friends, when are you going to admit that this is just practice and warm up for becoming a professional boat builder???!!!

If the IT market doesn't improve, I may just do that and use Oh Joy for a show piece. It wouldn't be the first time I did something like that...

I did get that section of clamp and the bad sheer plank off Thursday. I'll post up again this next week.
