We went to push her over with the dinghy but ended up sailing her into the haulout slip. Here's a vid of the haulout, kinda cool.

and one of the walk around after they washed the slime off.

That plate is probably a ground plate for grounding anything from electronics to the mast.
I would be good to know what is connected to it.
Make sure you keep the bolts to that plate as a prioroity for inspection.
This is a good place for electrolysis. If the bolts are of a lesser metal, they will fail.
If you are hit by lightning, those bolts are the first thing to check.
By the way, looks like she is sea worthy!

I'll be all up in the hull

looking at everything. She's got thru-hulls that I didn't know about so I'll be tracking those down too.

Did you haul her out now Charlie? Did I miss something? She looks really good, and stable as well.

Just some boat fun....

Hmm, fun things to do....

1. Rebuild the Perkins if possible, replace if not.
2. Strip all the exterior varnish, bleach and re-apply.
3. Pull the sticks and rebed the tracks, strip and re-apply varnish.
4. Freshen up the epoxy barrier coat.
5. Bottom paint.
6. Fair and repaint the hull.
7. Fair and redo the non skid.
8. Rebed all stanchions and hardware.
9. Paint deck.
10. Restore three ribs aft with rot issues.
11. Build two new mahogany hatches.
12. Redo the engine room layout and add a fuel manifold for hot swapping filters.
13. Rebed the bronze house portlights.
14. Rebuild one cockpit seat (teak).
15. Add more sail controls (in Bronze and wood blocks).
16. New running rigging.
17. New standing rigging.
18. Re-design the galley for the Admiral.
19. Pull and inspect the rudder post, replace packing.
20. Pull and replace the shaft packing.

Just a few minor items, no sweat...

Nope, not if I can help it.

It actually wasn't too bad, just over $400 for all of the one time fee stuff. Now it's $228 a month plus whatever I spend on the boat. Now if somebody will take over my slip by October, I'll be golden.

RAD, I'll yank it out, take it home and see.

If I can rebuild it I will. If not.... We'll cross that bridge when we get there. I need to finish the Chevelle so I have room to tear down the Perkins. In the meantime I think I have enough to occupy m'self.

Sweet looking boat

Pretty lines indeed. After helping to haul literally thousands of boats over the last 15 years- I would feel a lot more comfortable if it were my boat if they tied the slings together (fore and aft). I saw a boat dropped a couple of years ago- not a pretty sight and VERY fortunately no one was hurt. By the looks of this crew they know what they are doing but I still would tie off the slings. Interesting- I have not seen a mast in haul out using an overhead crane

Looks like a busy winter!!

They had the straps tied on the Starboard side

but ya couldn't see it, unless you noticed the yard worked moving the line while they were setting the first pad on the trailer. I had to drop the backstay and topping lift prior to the haulout so the rig could fit. Interesting method for sure.

Charlie...

didn't notice if anyone else caught it, but the bronze "thing" on the starboard side bottom is a "ground plate". Probably for a single sideband radio or to provide grounding for the rigging if it is wired for grounding.

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Actually, 8 yrs old is the perfect time for a little tyke to start sailing an Optimist. Plenty of them around and plenty of infrastructure for him to learn and race. Opti's are a great place for little 'uns to start.
