I've been a Cheoy Lee owner for 2 years now and would like to share some of my fun with others. Two years ago I began restoring the mast and a year ago I rebuilt the boat's 35 year old MD1 diesel engine. I have been sailing just about every weekend and enjoying every minute of it.

Nice pics

How about including some interior shots as the restore continues.

Offshore 27 rehab

I kept a OS 27 in the Palo Alto hHarbour (now gone) and Pete's Harbor (now going) for a number of years. The boat is now in my back yard in Wisconsin awaiting a major re-commisioning. I note that you rebuilt the Volvo engine. I had considered replacing with a larger and newer unit. Anythoughts on that?

An MDi will last 4ever!

The original owner of Fairwind had the cylinder bored about 20 years ago and also had 1 or 2 head jobs done. You could put a Yanmar in your boat for about $14k, but you would never get it back if you sold the boat. If you plan on keeping the boat then it is worthwhile because you'll have a lot more HP. I don't mind crank starting and using about 1 gal. of diesel a year. Bill
