Well, I just heard today that my offer on my new to me 1993 Hunter 27 has been accepted! I sold my '99 H240 and will be sailing a H27! I am very excited. So happy to stay with Hunter. I looked at many different boats to upsize to, and feel that Hunter gives you the best value for the money. Plus I love the looks of that model 27. The 28 would have been nice to, but quite a bit more money, plus this 27 came with a trailer, which I like. Thanks to everyone on this site who helped me in the past with questions. I am sure to come up with more once I pick up my new boat. And thanks to this site and Phil for helping me sell my 240. What a great web site! That is why it is my homepage. Happy sailing, Dan Busche Soon to be '93 H27 owner

I wish

I'm glad to here everything worked out for someone. Durring the past four weeks I've been running around like a maniac!!!!!!! I have a 1984 H27 in great shape and $8000.00 Cash. Ive been trying to deal and deal with no luck. I've forund plenty of H30-33 within my price range. NO ONE WILL TRADE. I even found an H33 in great shape for $15,000.00. from a dealer. I just refuse to put 5k down, and finance 10,000.00 until I sell mine. By the time I throw the 10K at the Original 10K loan, I'll still owe 5K to borrow it for a couple months. It's killing me. Someone Shoot me please.

Loan

John, If you still owe 5K on a 10K loan that you have paid back 10K on after several months....I can think of more than a few people who would make the loan. What is that?, something like 300% annual interest? Your loan brokers name Soprano? Look for a loan with no prepayment penalties, or better yet...sell your boat and then go looking with all cash. Good luck.

Relax, John, it's not as bad as you think

If you borrow $10K at 10% APR for 5 yrs, your monthly payment will be $212 and at the end of 6 months, your principal balance will be $9,209. Or, if you take out an short-term unsecured personal loan of $10K at 12% APR, and make only interest payments, the monthly payment will be $100, and when you're ready to pay off the loan, the balance will still be $10K. Sailboats aren't the most liquid of assets. A "swing" loan is a reasonable approach while you're trying to sell your old boat. If you can't stomach taking on the debt, then gather your patience for selling your H27. BTW, do you have the H27 advertised here at hunterowners.com?
