Took their course in 2003
I did a five day course in Captiva (Ft Myers area) in 2003 and got certified for basic keelboat, basic cruising and bareboat cruising in one deal. I found the instruction to be very good and the facilities excellent, but pricey. (This was before Captiva was devastated by a hurricane - I don't know if they still run that facility). OffShore follows the US Sailing program, which differs slightly from the American Sailing Assoc. program - amazingly enough the two do not recognize each other's certification, so when you start with one, you pretty much have to stick with it. I believe that there are more ASA schools than US ones, but I could be wrong.Anyway, I would grade the materials as very good, the instruction as excellent, the boat used as good to very good - it was a pretty new Hunter 40 - and the amount of on the water time as fair to good. There was more classroom time than I wanted, and less sailing. I think OffShore is a bit more expensive than some of the others.
