Hi folks, when you are trailering your boats with the shoal draft keels, what percentage of weight do you think you put on the keel as opposed to the rest of the hull? I have an Oday 22, one manual I saw said to put most of the weight on the keel. Actually I read it again, it says, "The majority of hull weight should be in the keel support bed of the trailer." Any advice? Thanks Jack Hart Hickory, NC

virtually all of it

Virtually all the weight should be on the keel. The hull supports are there to keep the boat upright.

Peter is correct. I have a O 25 on Jacks and when the hydraulic trailer guy picket it up that is the way it gets loaded on the keel first.. He told me that it always should have the weight on the keel so you don’t stress the hull. When they put the jacks on the just snug them to the hull so obviously they can’t be holding the weight since the first rest on the 4x4 and cinder blocks that he puts under the keel.
