Peg-

Do you recommend 1 version of Odorlos over the other - solid vs. liquid. From the spec sheets the active ingredients are different (solid = Sodium Nitrate, liquid = Ammonium Nitrate). Both seem easy enough to use, just want to pick the one that works best. Let me know, thanks!

Matt: There was a post a couple of weeks about reflecting on the liquid and the dry. You may want to check the archives.

I think that the dry product was the "preferred" product but I am not sure.

I alway think about liquid products as a watered down product and because of the weight there is more freight involved. In this case there is a different formula.

Not sure there is a difference considering the instructions state to dissolve the solid version before flushing. I have used both but currently use the liquid for convenience. Liquid may be a little more expensive.

I have done a search but could not find the post you are referring to for a solid vs. liquid comparison. Peggy, do you have a preference?

Nobody has an opinion?

1,748 views and only 2 posts. Has no one tried both to see what version works better? Is Peggy no longer watching this forum?

I dosed the tank with Odorlos liquid. On board usage every day from last Friday through next Sunday, will pump out and flush the tank. Will post both sensory results shortly thereafter. Then I will do the dry version over the following week.

Peggy- Emailed you over a week ago to get your preference on dry or liquid Odorlos. Can you let me know which version you prefer please?
And I replied immediately:
I'm guessing that by "solid" you actually mean powder... They both work equally well. I'm partial to liquids because they don't have to dissolve and therefore none gets left in the hoses. Always flush down the toilet...don't put it down the deck pumpout.

Sorry Peggy

Didn't realize my old email address was in my profile. I have updated it. Thanks for the advice on Odorlos.

Maybe you missed my post but I have used both and prefer the liquid because it is more convenient. I thought it was apparent that both worked well for me but I will state it now. I could discern no difference between the liquid or solid.

1 week with each product. Full pump out and flush out in between the liquid and the dry. No discernable difference in odor (was non existent other than a faint whif of stale air.) Solid waste breakdown was decent (albeit a rather short test) but a longer dwell time would be needed to confirm solids breakdown levels. My advice is to use what you find either convenient or cheaper. Next up, I am going to test the generic nitrogen from Home Despot(sp) to see if it stands up to the odorlos standard. But that will have to wait a few weeks for me to get off of the night shift and spend more time sailing.

Any results to report? If it is algae nutrients why not just use liquid/powder fertilizer? It is much cheaper. I am trying MiracleGro powder right now but since I've never used anything else I can't give a comparison.

You can get the powder 6# bucket at Camping World for under $20 or the liquid for around $28.
