Good morning gentlemen. I happened across an excellent condition 85 Mac 25 for next to nothing sitting in a barn. Got it home and here is my major problem. An army of mice had taken up residency in the boat during its dormant time. I've gotten all the old mouse poo covered material from the boat but wondered if anybody had any good ways to get rid of the remaining odor. Thanks everyone and safe sailing.

So how much mouse poo was there and where was it? By material removed from the boat, you mean cushions and such? Have you done the basics like wash down all surfaces with a good cleaner and removed all fabric/cushion stuff to be cleaned?
You have to be REAL careful of mouse poo as it can contain Hanta Virus and various other pathological viruses.
You really should 1. wear a respirator. 2. Sprtiz/soak 'all' mouse poo surfaces with at least 50:50 clorox/water and let sit for at least 1 hour. Never ever clean up mouse crap when its dry, moisten first with at least 50:50 Clorox & water.

For odor from soaked-in rodent poop, etc., go to a pet supply and get some of the pet urine/odor control detergents, etc.
OR
You can make your own urine odor control from the following recipe:
Baking Soda
White Vinegar
Liquid Dishwashing Detergent
3% Hydrogen Peroxide
Method:
• Mix a solution of fifty percent white vinegar and fifty percent water. You must use a liberal amount of this solution to reach the carpet, etc. fibers deep down. Work the solution into the carpet with a scrubbing brush to ensure it penetrates the fibers below.
•Then blot the area using the paper towel method above to absorb the vinegar mixture. The vinegar will neutralize the ammonia in the urine. If you own a wet/dry vacuum extractor use that to remove excess moisture (but wear your respirator!!!).
•When the area has dried or almost dried sprinkle a good handful of baking soda over the soiled area.
Slowly pour the hydrogen peroxide and dishwashing detergent mixture over the baking soda. (Alternatively you can use a spray bottle for the hydrogen peroxide solution). Then work the baking soda and hydrogen peroxide mixture well into the carpet, etc. with your fingers or with a scrubbing brush.
Allow the area to dry completely. Once the area is thoroughly dry, vacuum up the baking soda. Use a hard bristled brush to loosen up the baking soda if necessary.
If you don't have hydrogen peroxide on hand you could substitute it in an emergency for a spray laundry stain remover. Check the bottle. If it says 'Oxy' anywhere on the label then it probably contains hydrogen peroxide.
In areas that have been heavily soiled with urine you may have to repeat the process again.
•Mix half a cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide with a teaspoon of detergent. Plain liquid dishwashing detergent is required. Do not use caustic dishwasher detergent.

So that "Oxy" stuff is Hydrogen Peroxide?
I have cushions that have an odor of mold. Nothing visible on the foam but the boat was full of it when I got it. I plan to replace all cushions and foam next year. But now as we are having too much fun on the boat to have any free time to make the new ones.
My plan was to remove the foam and wash the covers. But How to clean the foam? I was thinking of just airing it out and maybe fabrise...?
Any ideas are more that welcome.

Yes its called Paint!
Restored a fire damaged interior of a mac-26 once. Just used a good water based paint from home-depot. I believe the stuff I got had a antimicrobial agent in it. Sprayed it in with a wagner power sprayer. Came out looking great!
For the prep work I had all my brothers and sisters kids who were dispirit to go sailing with there uncle Buck, just wet sand the hell out of the interior every day after school and weekends for a few months.
Whats that old TV commercial even a caveman can do it.
Any marks and dirt usually washed right off. If not just kept a small amount paint handy and used a small foam brush for touch ups.
