odor from head tank broken fitting

in 2001 a cracked elbow had to be replaced on my holding tank on my 1993 37.5 legend. we cleaned the mess in the boat but are unable to thorougly clean in the tight tank area.any good ideas please. tony

Buy a bottle of K.O. holding tank treatment and a trigger sprayer. K.O. is live bacteria that "eats" odor-causing spores. Saturate the area where the spill occurred...Do NOT rinse...let it dry. Leave hatches open so that plenty of fresh air can circulate for 24 hours. That will get rid of the odor permanently. If you still have odor, you didn't get the K.O. into every place the spill got into.
