This is our first boat with a seperate head. I have installed a Thetford MSD with pumpout and vent. Since the boat is still a relatively small space I am not wanting to embarass guests with odors (theirs or mine!). I'm not worried about smells coming from the MSD, I'm thinking of the natural smells that accompany using the toilet. Is there an effective aerosol spray that eliminates odors after using the toilet?

Grigs is right...

Just strike a match and the odor is gone. I know a lot of people who keep a book of matches in their bathrooms just for that purpose. If that idea doesn't appeal to you, a can of Oust.

You won't

Unless you strike the match in the vicinity of your body oriface as your expelling the gas you'll be fine:)

Please explain

the chemistry of this. Would using a lighter work as well?

It's the sulfur

from the match head. Unless you have an over filled zippo with leaking lighter fluid, only the match head would work.
