Points sails

Point sails has made a few sets for the guys on the Precision site. The guys name is Chip http://www.pointsails.com/, located on the west coast.

I talked to him about making sails for my DS1 and he seemed very knowledgeable.

As it turned out, I bought a used pair of racing sails, just used a few times for about half the cost.

I have a Mylar 130 or 150 Jib and a big rainbow spinnaker that would fit an Oday 23.
I bought a set of used sails for my Oday 23...from a guy in Tampa and I never use the mylar jib and spinnaker.

Let me know if interested. I have them in my garage in a sail bag. I can take photos.

Thanks,

Kevin

Mike,
One of my friends bought a suit of sails two years ago from Porpoise Sailing http://www.porpoisesailing.com/custom.asp for his O'Day 22. He was pretty satisfied when he got them and the price was very reasonable. With that said, you should get a lot of prices and talk to these sail makers. If you think that his price is too high, tell him. My friend went to Sperry Sails for a new Seaward 22 Mainsail and the guy quoted him a price of $1100. So my friend told him flat out that his prices were too high. The guy asked my friend, "how much do you think a Mainsail for your boat is worth?" and my friend told him about $ 800.00 The guy thought for a minute and then he told him, "wait, I think that I can make you a sail for that price." "Business is very slow and I really can't afford to lose a customer." My friend got the sail a few weeks ago and he's very satisfied. He showed me the sail and it looked great to me. I was going to buy a new Mainsail the year before last and Thurston Quantum in Bristol RI quoted me a price of $1170 for just a Mainsail for my O'Day 222. I took my Mainsail to North Sails and had it repaired. Thurston had built my sails originally. If I decide to buy a new Mainsail, I'll go to Sperry Sails. So check around and get some prices, but don't be afraid to talk to these guys. They can come down if they want your business bad enough.
