Have decided to proceed with purchase. Got reduced price to compensate for diesel leak issue. should close sale soon and will start looking for leak and fixing other issues.
the tank is mounted on plywood and strapped down. We replaced mine about 3 yrs ago now. the whole tank came out the lazerette with the filler neck cut off. I don't know if your boat is exactly the same but it's not a terribly difficult job. replace the fuel lines, filters, and make very sure you get clean new fuel when you fill the new one. I used a Moeller 19 gal that I can now remove in about 20 mins if necessary.

by the way, the leaks in the tank are most likely in the bottom and slowly leaking into the plywood support. really tiny pin holes make the bottom of the tank porous, don't think you will find actual holes like most people think of.

leak

check your water separator fuel filter, the drain screw could be leaking. How much fuel is in the bilge, a lot or just a film on the water? An extremely small amount of fuel will create a sheen on the water. Regardless it is illegal to discharge overboard so it must be fixed, big fines involved.
Soaked up 12 pads with fuel -so a lot. Thanks for your suggestion will try all in next few days

A new Mirax 12 gallon tank in aluminum is $265.25. Other sizes are available. Oday used quite a few Mirax tanks. Sailing Cal replaced his with a new one so you can PM him for the info. www.miraxfuelproducts.com

Now own the boat. Tank is definitely leaking. Plan to pump out diesel, cut tank in two to remove. Hope to replace with plastic tank that will fit through the lazarret.
