Wondering if anyone has a source for O'day parts other than DR Marine.

Looking for a boom and having little luck finding a source. Appears DR is about it, but they seem to just not want any business. Have called and left messages, wrote several emails, get no response. Not trying to be a dick, but it shouldn't be that hard to give some guy a bunch of money for something. Would like to find someone who might need the business. Stuart appears only to offer a complete mast and boom together.

If there are other sources anyone knows about I would like to hear from you.

Any time I've ordered from Rudy at DR Marine, I've used the website "shopping cart". The only time I spoke to him on the phone was when he called me, to ensure I was ordering enough rubrail.
Perhaps use his website ordering process?

For booms it specifies that you must call.

Joe,
O'Day had six different spar suppliers years ago. They used Dwyer-Damco in Branford Ct., Z-Spar out of Bristol RI. (out of business) Isomat Spars, Fall River Ma. and Miami Fl., Sparcraft Irvine Ca., and Yacht Riggers in Seattle Wa.

If Rudy can't get it for you and you know the make of the spar, you may be able to locate it or something pretty close to what you had. You also may need to change the goose neck fitting on the mast to accommodate the new boom.

That helps also, thanks. I am missing the gooseneck as well, so that makes it easier.

I see Cape Cod Shipbuilding has one listed, but having trouble getting them as we'll.

Joe, my spars (boom and mast) have "Kenyon" stickers on them. I'm pretty sure they're original. Do you know if one of the above manufacturers acquired/became Kenyon? Maybe you'll need to add another OEM to your list!;)

Kenyon can be acquired from www.rigrite.com. If you need to get a replacement boom, it makes things more difficult if you don't have the original to take measurements and match cross sections. On the other hand, they may have records of what type extrusion they sold for your O'day in question...

Give 'em a call.

I think you will find the same mast & boom sections at Dwyer.

www.usedsailboatstuff.com in Scarborough, Maine 730-0181 - they have used Oday everything, though not in massive quantities. Prices are half-1/3 of new. Am pretty sure they have a boom.

I KNOW they have a mast.

I found more affordable parts for my mast at Dwyer and they were very helpful finding the correct parts. I did not have the same experience with Rig Rite.

I'll check with Dwyer as well. Seems like everyone needs the exact tubing dimensions, which I do not have.

Rod over at Used Sailboat Stuff got right back to me, but he too needs dimensions, and indicated shipping was an issue for them. Will see how it plays out tomorrow.

It's quite possible Mike. The info I just put out on this thread came out of my O'Day owner's manual.

I see a couple of eBay listings with booms. This guy has quite a few, one listed for a Daysailor. Above John advises the boom is the same for the Daysailor and Rhodes 19. The ad, however, lists the boom at 9', while the specs I saw list the Rhodes boom at 10'4". Can anyone verify this?

There is also a Dwyer boom listed at 11'.

Anythoughts on modifying a longer boom? And the best way to find out the profile of the original O'day boom? Anyone with one care yo get a profile on it?

Thanks again for all of the insight so far.

The correct boom for the Day Sailer is also 10'4" just like the R19 boom. I have both a Day Sailer II and a Rhodes 19, both have their original booms. Set side by side there is no difference other than one is gold anodized. Same gooseneck, same end cap. DS2 has a bail to attach the main sheet block, R19 has a small section of 3/4" track (4"-6" long) with a slide that attaches to the main sheet block.

Here is the back cover from the 1968 O'Day Brochure showing mast length and boom length as well as other data.

I saw someone had a Tempest in another post, there is data for that as well.

Thanks John.

I think I will purchase from Dwyer. Got with Jay there (finally, a real person!), who knew exactly what boom I needed, emailed a diagram, and quoted a price lower than DR and Stuart. Plus 30% off if I assemble. Just the fact that they seemed to want to do business was enough for me, really can't understand the poor service at the other places.

Anyway, soon as I get a shipping quote I will be set. I'll update this when I am done, in case someone else ever is in the same position. Thanks for all the advice, a great resource here.
