Can someone tell me if the wooden trim on this boat is teak or not ? It's feeling dry and I'd like to use some kind of preservative before taking her out (just purchased, hasn't been used in 4 years). There doesn't seem to be any varnish or other coating on it, except for the floorboards.

I think the wood trim was mahogany, with teak as an option? Some Ospreys that I have seen the wood looks like teak, others it appears to be mahogany, usually varnished. Even if it is mahogany, I think a few coats of teak oil could still protect it fine, it may darken slightly........ I like like the look of varnish on my boat (what exterior wood there is), but truthfully, people are now building house decks from mahogany and leaving it to weather, or coating with an oil stain.
