Oday optional mast raising system for 25

Oday made a optional mast raising system for the 25. There is a picture of the system posted on the website, but fig #3 showing the adapter plates (there are 2 different types) allowing the boom to be used as a gin pole is blacked out. If anyone has the optional equipment or a better yet, if they know where I can have one made up, please let me know via this website or I am listed on the Oday 23 owners list. I have seen replys to mast raising, but most responses are "I can raise and rig my boat in 45 minutes, more or less, something like that. What I need is HOW! No one ever replys with how they do what they do especially shorthanded. My wife and I are unable to raise the mast by ourselfs Please help, thanks.

Mast Raising

Hi Jack,I tie off two lines from the end of the boom to the shroud base, I used double Braid, and I had no issues with the lowering and raising of the mast. I did it 3 times this past winter measuring and installing my roller furling.EJ TewsJennifer Lea

O'day 25 Mast Raise

Mast raise/lower

Raising the mast...

Jack,You don't really need the triangle plates on the shrouds, which is all the "mast raising system" is. I use E.J.'s approach - Lay the upper part of the mast on the bow rail, and insert the forward tabernacle pin . Attach the boom/gooseneck and topping lift, make sure the lift is secure. Attach the forestay and shrouds. Tie off lines from the end of the boom to a shroud turnbuckle on each side and make sure they are tight. Run your mainsheet through the mainsheet block and either pull while a helper lifts the mast off the bow, or lead it to a winch and start grinding. This will pivot the mast up, about the tabernacle pin. You are basically using the boom as a cantilever, which in turn is pulling the mast up by the topping lift. Keep an eye on everything to make sure it's square as it goes up. Once it's up, insert the aft pin, fasten the backstay and voila, you're done. The reverse works just as well for lowering it.
