I am looking at a 1979 Oday 25. The fin keel on this boat has a drain plug near where the keel is fastened to the boat. I've never seen such a thing and the current owner knows nothing about it. Anybody familiar with this?

Thanks for the info. That makes sense. No picture because I am probably not going to get this boat

Welcome to the SBO forums.
Some one said you got to squeeze a few lemons in order to find a juicy one… or maybe that was to make lemonade…

Any way the thought is look at boats with the perspective “Can this boat fill my dreams”. If so get serious. If not move on.

Finding water inside of the keel isn't unusual. The previous owner of my boat had screwed the bilge pump into the bilge. When we hit -30F, the keel's fiberglass developed a few cracks. Thankfully it wasn't a terribly complicated repair thanks to this forum.

Before I stored indoors I would drill three holes on each side of the keel at the end of the season. Some water would always come out. I would fill the holes come spring time.
