I contacted these people and they asked me to send a "chip" from my boat to match the color to. I didn't think it seemed like a great idea to carve out a chunk of hull to give to them so I could get some paint to cover a small scratch. However, if you come up with something that works, please keep me in the loop.

You're gonna laugh but...
The same gray colors are on the O'Day 240 -- which I had before moving up to a 302. With the 240, I had very good luck with the small bottles of model paint at Hobby Lobby. Had to mix a couple of grays and some white together -- but it looked very good. Who'd have thought Hobby Lobby model paint would work? Touched up my 302 in a hurry this fall -- used the same paint that was now 4 years older. And it looks like hell. I'll have to sand and redo this Spring when/if we ever get a thaw. I'll go get fresh paint and take more care mixing this time around. But the little bottles of model paint worked great. Good luck.

Here are some instructions for blending colors (see web site). Some in the last few years somewhere on the web was a color spectrum chart for matching colors. I do not have that site, nor know if it still exists, but since I did not have a color printer, I passed. Also there is another company in Florida that sells small containers of pigments in many colors. I will have to look for that site. I ordered some and it worked out better that that kit you get from West Marine. However, when mixing up a small patch some comments. Wet paint is different from dry. Just a toothpick drop of dark color makes a big difference. If you make it too dark, use else where and start over. With practice you get better. I use small containers, like small plastic drink glasses from Wall Mart and tongue depressor sticks from 'Michaels' or a local crafts supply. Ed K
